Claudia and I have been working together on Sincerely, Spain for almost two years now and, while many may wonder how that semi-professional relationship has affected our friendship, I would argue that our partnership has solidified our friendship!
We often joke that we’re only friends because everyone else left and I suppose there’s a level of truth to that—living abroad long-term can become trying as the friends you make often end up leaving at the end of the course, so you start to hold on tighter to the people who are in it for the long haul too. That’s basically why Claudia and I started hanging out more, but to be completely honest with you, I feel like we’re TRULY friends now because we share Sincerely, Spain.
While working in partnership with Claudia, I have learned a lot about myself and what I want out of Sincerely, Spain (and my life in general) and going through that process with someone else bonds you. I’ve gotten to learn so much more about myself, but also about her through her articles and our conversations about work, life, and Spain. It’s been a beautiful experience getting to know her on a deeper level than I ever would have if we had continued to simply meet up for tapas and barbecues.
